European and Benelux trademarks

General information
Through a single registration, trademark protection in all countries of the European Union can be obtained by means of a so-called Community Trademark.
It is also possible to obtain separate trademark protection in the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg) by means of a so-called Benelux trademark.

Duration
A trademark can be kept in force forever, provided that renewal fees are timely paid.

Documents and information needed for registration of a Community trademark or a Benelux trademark
a) Full name and address of applicant(s).
b) Specification of goods and/or services to be protected.
c) Reproduction of the trademark, for instance the word or the logo to be protected.
d) Certified priority document, if priority is to be claimed.
